Starting Work and the Trainee Licence: Step 3 – ADI Training
The Trainee Licence
Once you have passed the Part 2 exam you will have the option to either start work on what is known as the Trainee Licence or to wait until you have passed the final Part 3 exam. The Trainee Licence, or Pink Licence, is valid for 6 months only and allows you to gain experience with real pupils prior to taking your Part 3 exam.
Advice
Our advice is probably to wait as teaching real pupils can often distract you from the way the Driving Standards Agency are actually looking for you to teach. However, we will be only too glad to discuss this with you.
Status
As an Approved Driving Instructor you will almost certainly be self employed. this has it’s benefits:
- You are you’re own boss, you work when and where you like.
- Tax advantages
- Flexibility
The down side of things is that you get:
- No Holiday or Sick Pay
- No Company Pension
We will help you set up as a Self-Employed Person or as a franchise we will also put you in direct contact with any of our instructors, whom will be willing to help you.
